Introduction

fish1 Welcome to my little site about my model building.

Please visit the main site and host for this site at SFM:uk, the home for UK based science ficiton and fantasy model builders on the web.

I have been building science ficton and fantasy models since about 1995 when my better half bought me an ERTL Enterprise D kit at the local model shop (I think to keep me from getting bored one winter). I found it a nice way to relax and over the years have started to get more skilled, taking each model to little further than the last. For example, starting to airbrush made a tremendous difference, and I've now started learning the secrets of oil washes and weathering with pigments.

Over the years my interests have changed and moved around but I know build basically 3 types of model genre.

The first is Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K.), or SF3D which is the name it was originally released under in the 1980's. These are models created by an extremely well known Japanese designer called Kow Yokoyama. You might not recognise the name but he's done numerous designs for Gundam, Zoids and even video games. These models were released by Nitto and have never been easily available in the UK. I've recently been trying to build them with a consistent style/look and this is part of my very poorly articulated MaK Project.

The second is Gundam. I have recently begun buying Bandai's Gundam kits and these are really relaxing to build, since the fit is almost perfect and they virtually fall together out of the box. The design also suits my painting style well, namely to paint the parts prior to assembly. There are a growing number of finished on the site, again you can access them from the links to the right, and I'm sure more will be added in due course.

Thirdly, but by no means lastly, I have recently (over the summer of 2006) come back to Star Trek model building, concentrating on 1:2500 scale model kits. There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, I have quite a few of the 3 part ERTL sets which I built long ago but never painted. As my painting is now much improved and quicker I can get them painted much faster. Secondly, I can now produce the required decals for them, since none will be built as the Enterprise and they will need new names and registrations. And finally, they don't take up too much shelf space, which is now at an absolute premium.

In addition to these subjects there is a few odds and ends which you can look at, just follow those links on the right. I will be adding more items as and when time permits.

Thank you and enjoy.

fish1 I was never very keen on the old site design but never had the time to redo anything. I found this free website template and thought I would make some effort and reload everything.

So everything will eventually reappear but at the moment many of the links will bring you back to this main page. Apologies for that and please stick with me as I reload all the pages.
